| The Infrastructure Center (IC) stands for indispensable business continuity for virtual IT infrastructures.
For enhancing efficiency in daily handling of virtual infrastructures in version 6.2 management and restore times have fundamentally been improved.
Convince yourself of the new IC v6.2 which is available in the download area.
IC for VMware® & XenServer™
Both VMware and XenServer users take advantage of the following innovations in the Infrastructure Center (IC):
- Quickest possible adoption of configuration changes in the IC server
- IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)® users optimize both their backup and their restore processes with IC v6.2. The new release offers shorter restore times for virtual machines because the last backup generation can be kept on local disk. Precious storage space is saved due to direct committing of snapshots before sending backups to TSM.
- HP Data Protector (DP)® users also take advantage of the new features. In v6.2 IC offers significantly faster restore times because backup files are transmitted in one session and because the last backup generation can be kept on local disk. As snapshots are directely committed before they are sent to DP, IC allows enormous savings of time and storage capacity. Furthermore, IC v6.2 makes possible to address multiple tapes because under each group of VM particular DP media pools and DP devices can be defined.
IC for VMware
- The Infrastructure Center Warehouse (ICW) is the new core of the IC for VMware. Representing the central data information base ICW contains all important information while working closely togehter with VMware vCenter. That way the handling of the GUI and of the IC server is much better and faster.
- In addition to ICW v6.2 allows the comprehensive backup & recovery of virtual systems including snapshots. That way, complex snapshot structures can be easily backed up and restored, e.g. for development purposes.
IC for XenServer
- Optimum business continuity has been the basis of all develpment efforts in the new version of the IC for XenServer as well. Extended availability levels for complex virtual server landscapes are here in focus. Additionally to its own technologies for high availability and zero downtime IC supports in v6.2 also the high availability technology offerd by the Essentials for XenServer.
- For facilitating the installation of the IC for XenServer the Java virtual machine is automatically delivered together with the allocation of agents. This means that you do not have to intervene manually in IC v6.2 - neither at first installation nor while updating your XenServer.
- For avoiding that data are written on local XenServer disk areas IC v6.2 checks if backup devices are mounted on the XenServer. That way, security and availability of data are increased.
